Title
Peter and Munch The Scream
Artist
James Christiansen
Medium
Painting - Watercolors, Oils, Acrylics, Sharpie Sketches
Description
Acrylic painting for the 2015 Stanislaus Family Justice Center 4th Annual Art of Justice Event. Collaboration inspired by Center kid artist participating in art therapy workshop using Edvard Munch painting The Scream to discuss topic of Screaming, and then create their own version of the iconic painting. My project, to do something from them, which is Peter in the museum, peer with Munch holding his painting in front of his 8 year old face, anonymity for domestic violence victims, on topic of screaming.

Very interesting approach!

On my facebook page, I have the painting image Peter painted, which is hard for me to replicate as easily as the Munch iconic piece. In it, he has the word BOO on the left margin of his paper, black on black, so I moved his caption where I had space on the canvas. The kids did the workshop in October, so has some of the Jack O' Lantern look, but also scary time, so ok to scream. I thought having him with his painting in the museum Munch's work hangs, show the anonymity of the art therapy Domestic Violence victim program, and the universality of art, and couple of artists, great and new, on a subject.
